We get quite a few questions about the timeline for the project, so we thought we would use this space to keep you updated on what we're doing and when we're rolling out the new design. As a teaser, here's a glimpse at what our new homepage will look like (please note: this is not the final design or text - this is only a mock-up).
Here are a few of the project's basic details:
Vision
Create a modern, scalable website that reflects the true character of Bastyr University. Develop an aesthetic, user-centered design to improve how visitors navigate and find desired content. Improve work flow of website content management, enabling campus departments to maintain their own content. Reach a larger global audience, especially prospective students, by enhancing the frequency and ways in which Bastyr's website can be found online.
Timeline
8-12 months in total. We started at the beginning of March; we hope to roll out the new site by the new year.
New Features & Improvements
- Content Management System - Gives departments across campus the ability to make updates to the website
- New Design - Give it a more modern look while keeping with the spirit of the University
- Information Architecture - Make it easier for users to find the content they are looking for, and for search engines to find the Bastyr website
- Ecommerce - Simkin Center, Continuing Ed and Bookstore will have new platforms for selling classes or books online
- Improve Functionality - Enhance site search, social media integration, content & images
What "Redesign" Means
The marketing department and webteam have plenty of work to do over the next several months. We appreciate your patience with other marketing requests as we implement these exciting changes!

I like the look of the sample home page! Also, it makes me happy to know that departments will be able to post updates - I think that will contribute to the site being even more interesting and current. Thanks for all the great work you all are doing!

Very promising. I hope the design team will consult with multiple constituencies throughout the university throughout the process. I would in particular like to make sure that clinicians give a lot of input on any discussion of our philosophy. Thanks for all your work. Eric Yarnell, ND bot med dept
