Here's a list of some of the recent kudos and coverage that Bastyr University has received, from late last year to now:

A great way to start off the new year - Bastyr University Director of Food Services Jim Watkins, was featured in The Seattle Times' PNW Sunday Magazine on January 8, 2012. He also graced the seattletimes.com homepage the very next day (see above.) Well done, Jim!

Speaking of food and Bastyr University, The Kenmore Reporter gave a little love to the student-run Bastyr Top Chef competition. The event, which takes place Friday Jan. 13 from 6-8 p.m. is put on by the Student Nutrition Association and the money raised will go toward feeding local homeless youth. You can buy tickets starting Monday January 9. For more information, contact TopChef@Bastyr.edu.

There's been a lot of buzz about the new Bastyr-run natural medicine clinic that opened earlier this week at Edmonds Senior Center. Here's what Edmonds Patch had to say about the clinic:
The Bastyr Natural Medicine Community Clinic will be open from noon to 4 p.m. and will serve all ages. It is not a walk-in clinic; reservations are through the senior center at 425-774-5555.
For the first six months at the Edmonds Senior Center, three advanced-level students from Bastyr will see patients under the supervision of Drs. Erica Oberg and Ryan Bradley, licensed naturopathic physicians and Bastyr faculty members. A patient's first visit will be scheduled for 90 minutes to allow for a full history and examination. Following visits are an hour.
Additionally, The Edmonds Beacon provided media coverage on the new clinic, which is being welcomed with enthusiasm and excitement.

Also generating interest is news of the centennial celebration for John Bastyr's 100th birthday. Dr. Bastyr would have hit the century mark on May 16, 2012 so to mark the occasion the University will be hosting a number of celebratory events in his honor all year long with the first one scheduled on campus for January 25.
You can read what the Kenmore Reporter and Massage Magazine had to say about the yearlong celebrations.

New year + new program = news coverage. Bastyr University is adding a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology degree program to its curriculum for fall 2012.
The new program is different from most other counseling psychology programs in that it focuses on whole-person health — body, mind and spirit — allowing graduates the opportunity to find careers in private practice or integrative settings. The Bothell Reporter featured a piece on the new program.

The Everett Herald did a nice New Year's series on staying healthy and quoted Bastyr Center for Natural Health Chief Medical Officer Jamey Wallace, ND quite a bit. Check out Dr. Wallace's thoughts on natural ways to fight the common cold, and why chicken soup is so good for you.

Finally, congratulations to Drs. Leanna Standish, Joe Pizzorno and Michael Murray for winning awards from the Natural Products Association. Dr. Murray won the President's Award, and Drs. Pizzorno and Standish were both given Clinician Awards. You can read more about the trifecta of awards granted to those who have strong ties to Bastyr University here.
Not a bad way to start of the new year!
